Student-at-Law
Whereas the law is passionless, passion must ever sway the heart of man
— Aristotle

Emilia brings her passion for criminal defence to her Student-At-Law role commencing with the Firm, January 2025. Her law journey was shaped by an academic background in Criminology and Political Science at York University. Emilia’s passion for justice led her to pursue a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) in Common Law from the University of Birmingham.

While at York University, Emilia served as Vice President and COO of the International Relations Student Association (IRSAY). Emilia’s craving to learn more about international politics and sharpen her public speaking skills brought her to this role. Emilia’s view of international politics being similarly adversarial to criminal justice system, is her underlining reason for becoming a barrister.

Her international experience was highlighted while being Director of Academic Activities at University of Birmingham’s European Law Student Association (ELSA). Organizing workshops, chairing discussions on contemporary legal issues and assisting with a variety of advocacy events strengthened her leadership skills and ability to collaborate across cultures.

Additionally, Emilia enhanced her ability to think creatively while working as a Law Curriculum Researcher at University of Birmingham. In this role Emilia provided creative educational resources, to make complex legal topics more accessible for students. Research, as tedious as it might be, Emilia sees it as the foundation in holding all segments of the criminal law system accountable, while hand in hand effecting precedent.

In her free time, Emilia values maintaining a well-rounded lifestyle. She enjoys going to the gym, watching movies, photography and spending quality time with her family.
